On Friday the 26th of May our school participated in national Pink Shirt Day. We wore pink shirts to show that we celebrate diversity and believe that our school is a place where all people should feel safe, valued and respected regardless of our differences. We do not tolerate bullying and we are proud of it.
Check out all the pink!
We were bursting with pride this Friday as these three of our students were representing our class at assembly. All of these students are relatively new to Whakamarama School and we have loved having them on board. Alfie eve got to draw names out of Poppy!
Keep up the great work team!
On Thursday and Friday we had lots of fun talking about fractions in maths time. We made sandwiches and cut up feijoas.
We were all very cautious about being fair so Miss Casserly had to make sure that each half of the sandwich was equal/same size. We know that if we cut 1 whole sandwich in half, there would be two parts. These are called halves! Then we got really tricky and cut a sandwich into 4 equal parts. These are called quarters or fourths.
On Friday we cut feijoas into halves and quarters then got to gobble them up as a healthy snack. This was great fuel for our brains as we worked so well in our next challenge. We sorted lots of different object into equal groups. Again, we were very careful to make sure that each group was equal. Stay tuned to see more of our fraction fun!
