We had a great time making lots of Easter crafts and treats this week. We made our very own hot cross buns from scratch. We all had turns measuring, weighing, mixing....................and eating them of course! These weren't as sweet as bought ones from the shop as we used less sugar but we still enjoyed them. Happy Easter everyone!
This afternoon the year 3 and 4 students took part in a session with Janna where they worked on improving their basketball skills. We all noticed a great difference between skills at the start of the lesson and then at the end. Great work guys!
The photo to the left is of our grass heads as they just began to sprout. They are growing each day and it is very exciting to watch the progress!
Yesterday was our second to last session with Janna. We concentrated on over arm throwing using little bean bags in a series of fun and fast moving games. We had to think hard about 3 things- 1. Body position 2. Pointing where we will throw 3. Hold the bean bag near our ear and push upwards. Take a look at the photos.

It has been a busy and fun beginning to the year. We have co-constructed our class rules, established routines, had many swims in the pool, got to know more about each other and have made a great start to our learning journey.
Take a look below to see what we have been up to!
Here are some pictures of our class taking part in the GO4it programme with Janna
Week 5 is also New Zealand's Seaweek! We were lucky enough to have a special science kit for the week that has many resources to help us to learn more about marine biology and aquaculture. On Tuesday we examined various shells and their textures, shapes, sizes and colours. We then tried to categorise them according to their different features. The collage below are of us pretending to be scientists sorting shells.
