Room 2 went on a special trip to explore the conservation forest project of Aongatete Forest in Kati Kati. With a group of wonderful volunteers we were able to walk through the forest and see many beautiful plants and animals. Learning about the conservation efforts was inspiring and the possum/rat traps were very intriguing.
We have been working hard to write and practice our speeches. Our topic "If I were Prime Minister" has prompted many great conversations in class and inspired some awesome ideas from the students.
The year 1- 4 students presented their speeches last Friday. Well done everyone!
To sum up our financial literacy unit, we had a special visit from Marlin, an educator from the ASB Get Wise programme. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about different types of bank accounts and cash cards, and will always remember his slogan while we shop...
"Push the trolley, stop the wheels, look for good deals!"
The whole school ventured out to Katikati college to visit the Science Roadshow. This is an excellent program that travels the country providing schools with excellent exposure to scientific research and experiments. Favourites voted by room 2 students were:
- Dry ice
- 3D printer
- Hover craft
- Elephant toothpaste
- Metal detectors
Our cultural intelligence journey continues as we learn about the country of Japan. We had a wonderful opportunity to have a cultural exchange with some Japanese students. Together we sang, played games and learnt how to fold origami. Arigatou gozaimashita!
