Waitomo Camp: Year 3-8
On Wednesday 18th November, our Year 3-8 students headed to Waitomo for a three day adventure. The students were involved in a wide range of activities that were fun and challenging. Caving, ziplining, the Troll Cave, hiking, abseiling and much more created lasting memories for our talented learners. Our learners did not shy away from giving things a go and as a result they grew within themselves as individuals.

Dynamo Leaders
Monday 17th August hosted an opportunity for our Year 5-8 learners to be involved in a 1 ½ hour leadership workshop with Sport Bay of Plenty. The students were taught a range of practical leadership activities to assist them in delivering games in a lunchtime programme. The aim is to grow leadership potential in students at Whakamarama so that they can take on an act of service for their school. This programme provides young leaders with knowledge, understanding and personal skills to develop their leadership. We look forward to a team of older students rising to the occasion and delivering a fun and exciting lunchtime programme.

Maths Week: 10th - 14th August 2020
Maths Week is a mathematics event that Whakamarama School calendars annually. The people and organisations behind maths' week provide a vast array of resources which our students engage with across the week. The most favourite being 'The Daily Dollar'.
Across the week our students earned dollar rewards for their problem solving efforts and the week ended with a high energy auction where every child walked away with a small acknowledgement of their success. We are so lucky to have a team of teachers and parents who support our children in becoming confident and creative mathematicians.
